Peña de Bernal

Peña de Bernal

Just 39 kilometers from the town of Tequisquiapan is the amazing Peña de Bernal, a rock formation of approximately 300 meters height. This monolith located in the Sierra Gorda of Queretaro is considered the world's third largest, after the Rock of Gibraltar in Spain and Brazil's Sugar Loaf. It is an ideal place for brave and danger loving people who love rappel.

Every March 21st, during the Spring Equinox, the rock receives thousands of tourists seeking an encounter with nature to recharge their energy. At the base of the rock settles Villa de Bernal, a magic town. In this picturesque village artisans produce blankets and wool jorongos to keep out the wind from the Sierra. Along the streets you can find a variety of quince, guava and peanut sweets for sale.
